SL SelfLandlord

About SelfLandlord

SelfLandlord exists for one reason: to help UK landlords manage their rental properties without handing 8-15% of their rent to a letting agent.

Who's Behind This

I'm . I run an SEO consultancy in Reading and invest in buy-to-let property. I self-manage my own rentals. I got tired of paying agents to do things I could do in 20 minutes.

I also got frustrated by how hard it is to find reliable landlord information online. Most guides are either written by letting agents (who want your business) or solicitors (who charge £300/hour). Neither has much incentive to tell you the simple truth: you can do this yourself.

So I built SelfLandlord. Every guide is written from real experience. Every calculator uses real UK tax rates. Every legal reference is checked against current legislation for England & Wales.

Why This Site Exists

The average UK landlord pays £1,500-3,000 per year in letting agent fees. That's money straight off your yield. For a single property renting at £1,200/month, self-managing saves you £2,000+ per year.

Two major law changes make 2026 a turning point. The Renters' Rights Act takes effect in May 2026. Making Tax Digital starts in April 2026. Both add compliance requirements that agents will charge extra for. But with the right information, you can handle them yourself.
